3. Weird Bodybuilder From Lady In the Water
Character Name: Reggie Actor Name: Freddie Rodriguez Reggie, unlike many of the other characters on this list, Reggie doesn't seem to have any reasonable real world precedent for his existence. Other Shyamalan characters, exaggerated as they may be, still have routes in reality or a firm basis in a common pop culture trope. This guy on the other hand is just plain weird... and I like that. At least he won't feel out of place among the others crazies hanging out at the apartment complex in Lady In The Water. Still, even by the standards of that place he's stretching it. It's funny how out off all the weirdo's there he's the only one that apartment super Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti's character) doesn't want to spend too much time outside of his room. I don't know why. He's endlessly fascinating (and disturbing) and I'm sure spending a day with him and learning about his way of life would be thrilling to no end. Yet I give credit to Shyamalan here cause he doesn't leave the character as just a vague oddity in the story. As per his speciality he is able to take this rather obtuse character and challeange the audiences expectation of him. Thats why its such a delight to the viewer when the end of the story arrives and Reggie's true purpose is revealed. You may not be much on Shyamalan's story "twists" but I'd be shocked if even his most critical detractors didn't enjoy the very surprising saga of Reggie.
