When people think of found footage pictures, one of the first movies to spring to mind is 1999's The Blair Witch Project.

Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez truly changed the landscape of horror with this ground-breaking offering, brilliantly utilising the early days of the internet to blur the lines between reality and fiction as audiences pondered whether the film's central three characters really had gone missing in the Burkitsville Woods.

Technically, the fates of Heather, Mike and Josh are left ambiguous and open to interpretation. But seriously, the moment that Heather spots the image of Josh standing in the corner of a darkened room, she immediately knows she's toast.

In the purported lore of the movie, the Blair Witch would force somebody to stand facing the corner of a room while it tortures some other poor soul. And so, as soon as Heather finds Josh and sees how he's standing, that's when she has the terrifying realisation that not only is the Blair Witch more than merely an urban myth, but she's about to find herself becoming one of this entity's victims.
