After years of waiting for the threatened latest sequel in the Austin Powers franchise, perhaps it's time to realise that fourth installment is not only not coming, but also that if we really do want more of everybody's favourite ruffled-shirted sexual deviant then maybe it's time to take a darker look at him. Premise: It's the early 1960s in London, and Austin Powers is a young spy learning his trade. Powers has a sincere humour deficiency, and takes his job extremely seriously, whilst London begins to erupt into the swingingest years yet seen by the locals. But Powers' steely resolve is gradually cracked by all of his friends abandoning him for the groovier lifestyle, leaving him alone and in a mentally fragile state. Powers is tragically crushed in a swarm of young ladies during Beatlemania, sustaining a serious head injury, and wakes not being able to remember who he is. He spends the next few years acting out all the depraved acts of free love he doesn't realise are bordering on the unacceptable. The incident has totally destroyed Powers, and it is gradually revealed that Powers does in fact not get frozen and revived in the future, but is merely having vivid delusions of such, whilst going on various rampages to take down organisations which he has convinced himself are evil. Cast: Steve Buscemi (Austin Powers), Bryan Cranston (Dr. Evil - figment of Powers' delusions)
