8 Heroes Who Could Be The Marvel Cinematic Universe's First Gay Character

3. Phyla-Vell And Moondragon

Mary Jane Watson Spider Man
Marvel Comics

Phyla-Vell (also known as Martyr) is the artificially created offspring of Captain Mar-Vell and is depicted as being ether lesbian or bisexual in the comics, having engaged in a relationship with telepathic human warrior, Moondragon.

These characters are combined here because they represent a somewhat unique opportunity for Marvel to introduce both members of a same-sex relationship simultaneously. Phyla-Vell and Moondragon have deep history with many major players in Marvel's burgeoning cosmic universe, including Thanos, Magus (rumoured), and of course the Guardians Of The Galaxy - a team of which both were a member at certain points in the comics.

It just so happens Marvel has a GOTG sequel in the works! Look no further for a couple of new additions to the roster, Mr. Gunn.
