If there's one thing characters from the Saw franchise shouldn't get their hopes up for, it's making it to the sequel. The notorious torture porn series is known for its bloody and violent executions, with almost every major character biting the bullet at some point. That fate seemed to befall the first movie's supporting protagonist, David Tapp, but it wasn't quite the end for him.

Tapp (played by Danny Glover) appeared in the first Saw film as a police detective investigating the Jigsaw killer. His spiralling obsession with catching the infamous villain saw him shot in the chest by Jigsaw's unwilling accomplice (Zep) and seemingly killed. However, while the movies would have you believe he was a goner, the 2009 video game said otherwise.

This Konami title saw Jigsaw nurse Tapp back to health before forcing him to partake in a game of his own. You took control over the character as he attempted to survive the games, catch the killer and put an end to his obsession.

In the end, you're given the chance to secure one of two endings. One resulted in Tapp escaping the facility but ending his own life after failing to capture Jigsaw. The other saw Tapp lose his mind and end up in a facility. The former of these two is the official canon end to this character.
