3. Ash's Battle Against The Deadites Continued In Ash Vs. Evil Dead
Why not move from an iconic horror villain to an iconic horror hero in Ash from the Evil Dead?
Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series needs no introduction. The team of Raimi in the directing chair and Bruce Campbell in the leading role have gone on to become one of the most iconic director/actor duos in history, turning Ash into one of the few beloved horror icons who isn't a villain.
The third movie, Army of Darkness, saw Ash put through the wringer, struggling against the dreaded Deadites in 1300 A.D. The flick ended with him returning to his time and battling another Deadite at S-Mart, showing that the fight will continue, no matter where he is. It was a finale that felt final yet open simultaneously, and that open-ended nature was something this spin-off TV series jumped at with full enthusiasm.
Ash Vs. Evil Dead continued the legacy of the chainsaw-wielding maniac, taking place approximately 30 years after the original trilogy, and showing more of the same, with Ash battling the Evil Dead - go figure.
It's a genuinely excellent spin-off, and it's a massive shame the show was cancelled in 2018. Still, Campbell has revealed that there's talk of an animated series continuing the story. So, yet another Ash spin-off could be on its way.
