8 Horror Films Ruined By Disappointing Death Scenes
6. Laura Hunter - Saw II
The second film in this seriously sadistic torture-porn series traces the efforts of Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) as he attempts to save his son from the Jigsaw Killer (Tobin Bell).
Jigsaw has trapped a group of unwilling victims in a veritable house of horrors: a run-down building filled to the brim with torturous traps, brutal booby traps, and an insidious nerve gas which is slowly poisoning those inside.
While not as inherently innovative as the first film in this now-tired franchise, Saw II remains a pretty successful sequel, and the movie includes some of the most infamous traps of the series. Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) is forced to root around in a pit filled with used syringes, for example, and Obi Tate (Tim Burd) is cruelly burned alive in a furnace.
Despite featuring such creative and sadistic deaths, Saw II also contains one of the dullest deaths in the entire series. Laura Hunter (Beverley Mitchell) is not killed by one of Jigsaw's torturous traps, and she instead slowly succumbs to the fatal effects of the nerve gas. Dying from a seizure while in Amanda's arms, Laura's demise is certainly tragic and upsetting. However, compared to other deaths in the series, this scene is ultimately lackluster.
