8 Horror Films Ruined By Disappointing Death Scenes
7. Holly Nelson - Paranormal Activity 4
The fourth installment in this (in)famous found footage horror franchise, Paranormal Activity 4 was something of a critical flop and is widely considered one of the weakest films in the series.
Set five years after the events of Paranormal Activity 2 (Paranormal Activity 3 was, confusingly, a prequel to the first movie in the series), the film follows the Nelson family as they experience unexplained, supernatural phenomena.
The family are affected by increasingly violent and terrifying events: a chandelier nearly crushes Alex (Kathryn Newton), for example, and she is later nearly killed by a garage door.
Eventually, these unexplained occurrences turn deadly. While home alone, the family matriarch, Holly (Alexondra Lee), is suddenly attacked by an unseen force. Unexpectedly flung in the air as she stands in her living room, Holly is instantly killed when she hits the ceiling.
While this death is certainly shocking, the speed at which it occurs leaves viewers more puzzled than terrified. Ultimately, Holly's death is just another mediocre jump scare in an equally mediocre movie.
