8 Horror Films Ruined By Disappointing Death Scenes

This infamous torture-porn horror series centers on a wealthy, murderous group of European serial killers who lure, torture, and kill young, foreign tourists. The first film in this three-part franchise focuses on the exploits of Paxton (Jay Hernandez), Josh (Dereck Richardson), and Oli (Eyþór Guðjónsson), a group of hedonistic travelers.

Josh and Oli are graphically tortured and murdered: the former is drilled to death; the latter is decapitated. Ultimately, Paxton uses his strength and resilience to survive the events of Hostel, eventually killing one of his cruel captors.

However, many viewers were disappointed when this well-liked character swiftly kicked the bucket in the sequel's opening segment. Even though the paranoid, deeply traumatized Paxton has been living as a recluse, he is eventually tracked down and murdered in his apartment.

While we do see his decapitated corpse, Paxton's death is not depicted onscreen. This disappointing demise makes us wonder why Paxton survived the events of the first film in this horror series. If the filmmakers had always intended for the character to die, we reckon that a grisly onscreen death would have been a far more fitting send-off.
