Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) is the central protagonist of the first Final Destination film, an innovative horror movie which focuses on the consequences of (unintentionally) cheating death. Preparing for a flight to Paris with his schoolmates, Alex has a premonition: their plane will crash a short time after take-off, and the fiery accident will kill all those onboard.

Alex is able to disembark the plane prior to take-off, and the panicked teenager is followed by a group of his friends, peers, and teachers. Standing in the airport as the plane leaves, the surviving group watch in horror as the aircraft actually does catastrophically malfunction mid-air.

Initially, the group are simultaneously relieved and devastated. However, most of the survivors later perish in a series of outlandish freak accidents. Alex, however, somehow manages to escape death once more, ultimately surviving the events of the first film.

In the sequel, however, we discover that Alex, despite living as a total recluse, was eventually killed in his house by a falling brick. This death is completely underwhelming and, given that it occurs entirely offscreen, makes us question why Alex survived Final Destination in the first place? This disappointing revelation really ruins this otherwise entertaining sequel.
