8 Horror Movie Re-Castings That Were TERRIBLE
1. Vince Vaughn - Norman Bates (Psycho)
If you're a fan of horror, you know about Norman Bates. Portrayed to perfection by Anthony Perkins across the original series, the actor brought the disturbed killer's complexities to life: his seemingly meek and kind exterior giving way to the murderous personality of his dead mother.
Hell, Perkins was so good that his final grin to the camera in that first movie has become synonymous with the whole genre - he was just that creepy.
So, who did the studio decide to bring in to recapture this same depth when remaking the movie in the 90s? Well, Vince Vaughn, of course! Because that makes... sense?
Now, to be fair to Vaughn, the man actually has some pretty good acting chops. While he's known for his comedic performances he's proven he can do sinister and intimidating - just look at him in Brawl In Cell Block 99 for proof of that.
However, he wasn't a good pick for Norman Bates, and his flat delivery proved unconvincing and grating. He felt like a pale imitation, as did the whole movie, with it being an unnecessary shot-for-shot remake that added nothing to the impeccable original.
