8 Horror Movie Sequels We Almost Got

2. Friday The 13th 2

FRIDAY THE 13TH
Paramount Pictures

It's been 12 years since Jason Voorhees was last on screen, can you believe it? Platinum Dunes' remake of the original property pulled an impressive $92 million at the box-office and fans assumed this ensured sequels for life.

But over a decade later, we haven't even gotten one, and why is that? Unfortunately Jason's returned to the screen has cycled through so many release dates, so many studios and so many rights holders that the property is now tied up in messy legal battle currently on appeal.

However, at least two ideas almost made it to the screen, one entitled Friday the 13th Camp Blood: The Death of Jason Voorhees hoped to see release in 2010. This idea would've had Jason stalking through the snow, although further details are sparse.

Another idea surfacing in 2015 was to have the next Friday be a found-footage film, although this was greeted negatively by fans. Ultimately the sequel/reboot languished so long in development hell that producer Brad Fuller said "at this point it may not even have Jason in it."

Now with the rights in limbo, it sadly does seem that this may be the end for our favorite pissed off goalie.

Hi! The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE horror movie nut. A confirmed addict to the WhatCulture Horror YouTube channel I thought I'd try my luck on their writing team. I'm a wannabe author with one completed manuscript submitted to a few agents. Please cross your fingers for me! I am currently working on my second book. If you wanna talk horror or need any movie recommendations, I'm your man! Give me a follow on Instagram... since there doesn't seem to be a section for that in the "socials" tab @that_horror_nerd
