8 Horror Movie Villains Who Don't Say A Word

1. Michael Myers - Halloween

The Strangers Man In The Mask
Universal Pictures

To many a horror hound, Michael Myers is the single greatest antagonist in horror history. That's for sure a bold claim, but even if the Shape isn't your all-time favourite horror villain, there's no doubting that's he's at least in the conversation for greatest ever.

For eight of the initial nine Halloween movies - Michael being absent from Halloween III: Season of the Witch - two Rob Zombie efforts, and 2018's 'recalibration', Myers hasn't said a single word bar the moments in Zombie's moments which explored Michael's childhood.

Since becoming an adult, Michael Myers has remained a complete mute. In fact, even in Rob Zombie's two pictures, Michael was largely a mute from the moment the youngster killed his sister Judith.

Like so many of the other characters featured in this piece, the Shape is one whose mystique is added to by the very fact that he doesn't say a word. Instead, Michael Myers uses that silence and his eerie body language to bring out a sense of utter dread amongst those who come across his path.

With Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends set for October 2020 and October 2021 releases, here's hoping that Michael stays silent for the supposed final two movies in the Halloween franchise.

And for those asking, yes Michael does have a lower kill count (121) than Jason Voorhees, but Michael Myers gets the nod here due to the fact that he's never had to endure some of the more comedic antics that Jason has - well, bar that kung-fu battle with Busta Rhymes. But let's try and forget that.
