8 Infamous Movie Myths You Won't Believe Are Actually True

1. There's A Hidden Image Of A Naked Woman In Disney's The Rescuers

The Rescuers

There is arguably no other corporation who are quite so interesting to discuss when it comes to movie-based urban legends than that of the Walt Disney Company - given their long history and the fact that no other institution evokes images of unrivalled nostalgia and corporate hell in such equal measure, Disney are your go-to-guys for bizarre myths. We've all heard about Disney sneaking perverted images into their movies, of course, and although almost all of those have been debunked by the company over the years, one of them is actually true.

That's right: loveable 1977 animated classic The Rescuers, which tells the story of two mice who set out to rescue a young girl from a terrible fate, genuinely does mark the only instance of a confirmed gratuitous image having been contained within the frames of a Disney movie: at the 38-minute mark, a photorealistic picture of a naked woman is visible for a few seconds in a window as our heroes fly past whilst riding in a sardine tin attached to a bird (hey, it's a movie).

Whereas Disney have been able to disprove most other instances of supposed nudity hidden with their films, they were unable to make excuses for his one. The best they could do? "It was inserted during the post-production process," which may or may not have been true, but - given the material - is likely.

Bizarrely, this wasn't all that well-known until Disney themselves came out to admit it, and has been removed from subsequent versions. What a shame - I liked it.
