8 Insane DC Extended Universe Rumours You Need To See To Believe

7. Jena Malone Is Playing Batgirl

When Jena Malone was first spotted on the set of Batman v Superman, it was quickly dismissed as The Hunger Games star simply paying a visit to her Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder. However, her red hair sent alarm bells ringing, and it predictably didn't take long for a rumour to surface that she had secretly been cast as Carrie Kelly, the Robin from The Dark Knight Returns. Snyder borrowing that character from Frank Miller's critically acclaimed graphic novel made sense (even if she didn't suit up as Robin), especially as it's clearly already inspired much of the movie. Things then took an interesting turn when trades like The Hollywood Reporter and Variety confirmed that Malone had been cast in the movie, though neither was sure whether or not it was Robin she was playing. As a result, it was left up to fans to assume that the actress would be making a surprise appearance as Carrie Kelly, but a recent report revealed a twist that no one saw coming. In actual fact, Malone has apparently been selected to play the daughter of Jim Gordon, a.k.a. Batgirl, though there are conflicting stories as to what exactly she'll be getting up to in Batman v Superman. Popular theories include her being Oracle, Batman's eyes and ears in Gotham City from The Watchtower. That version of Barbara is confined to a wheelchair of course, but seeing as one site has claimed that we're going to get a Killing Joke style flashback to the day The Joker shot the young hero, that being the case starts making a whole lot of sense! Either way, the fact that Batgirl is going to be showing up in Batman v Superman is surprising enough and actually pretty hard to believe. For that reason, it might be best to brace yourself for disappointment (Malone could be playing a random cop) rather than getting too excited...
