8 Little Known Tics That Made Michael Keaton's Batman Awesome

1. Batman Purposely Loosened Up In The Sequel

The events of Batman clearly had an impact on both Bruce Wayne and Batman, as they€™ve both lost some of their rigidness in Returns. Having worked through some of his childhood scars and had a relationship with Vicki Vale - short-lived as it might have been - he seemingly lost a little bit of his edge for the sequel. Bruce isn€™t as isolated anymore and is taking an active part in the city's welfare by opposing the power plant. He can also muster the courage to talk with women, and is even willing to open up about his past relationships to Selina Kyle. He€™s still a little awkward doing it, but these baby steps are important. As for Batman, he€™s a lot more expressive; he can make the occasional joke (€œEat floor. High fibre.€) and he even has a smile or two. When the compressor switch on his Batmobile fails to work, he makes some panicky jokes about it, which is something he never would have done in the original. It€™s a small detail, but it€™s nice that Keaton decided to add some personality changes to the part after the events of the first movie. Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
