8 Major New Details Revealed About Star Wars: The Force Awakens

1. Simon Pegg's Surprising Contribution

Is Daniel Craig really going to be hidden somewhere in Star Wars: The Force Awakens dressed up as a Stormtrooper? "I€™ve been asked to say nothing by Her Majesty€™s Secret Service," is all Abrams would jokingly divulge when asked just that. Luckily, he was a little more forthcoming about Simon Pegg's appearance in the movie. Confirming that the Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation actor will be "unrecognisable" as an alien of some sort, Abrams wasn't willing to let slip any specifics about who or what he's playing, but made it clear that it's just a cameo appearance. He did however reveal that Pegg has contributed a lot more than just a random appearance! "He would drop by the set because he wanted to, and when he could, he would help," Abrams says. "We could talk about things, and he was a perfect combination of incredibly smart screenwriter, fan of the series, critical fan of the series, and friend of mine €“ but not just blindly supportive. He was an honest, critical friend. And he wasn€™t so close to it that he became immune to things. He would come in with fresh eyes and very smart ideas. He€™s one of a handful of people along the way that has been really priceless." A major Star Wars fan, it's hard to complain about the prospect of Pegg - who recently co-wrote Star Trek Beyond - weighing in on The Force Awakens and acting as a sounding board for Abrams. Whether he'll get any sort of credit here or was just happy to anonymously (until now) help out a friend remains to be seen, but his involvement - no matter how minor - is just more great news for this highly anticipated release.
