8 Major New Details Revealed About Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2. Harrison Ford's Return As Han Solo

While every Star Wars fan is excited to see what happens next with Luke Skywalker's journey, there's a reason Harrison Ford received the most vocal response at Comic-Con last month. While the actor's reluctance to allow his career be defined by this role has led some to assume that he doesn't care about Han Solo, it's clear from the interviews conducted by EW that that couldn't be any further from the truth. Kathleen Kennedy reveals that he was immediately on board with Star Wars: The Force Awakens upon reading the first draft of the screenplay and met with Abrams to talk in detail about what the plan for his character was. "I€™ve always found this over the years with the Indiana Jones films we€™ve all done together - he€™s incredibly collaborative when it comes to story and developing his character, and really engaged in the process," she says. "And he was every bit that on this film." Did you get chills upon seeing the scene above in the trailer for the movie? Well, just imagine what it was like on set when Han Solo and Chewbacca once again boarded the Millennium Falcon! "Every single person on the set was stunned," Kennedy adds. "I remember turning around, and there must have been 200 people gathered behind me - completely quiet. I didn€™t even know they were there. The whole crew had stopped working, staring at the monitor, because it was so iconic." It's obviously going to be incredibly exciting to see where Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes Han Solo, and as amazing as Ford's return sounds, he won't be the only actor playing the character over the next few years. Kennedy confirmed to the magazine that the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie which is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller is going to focus on the Millennium Falcon pilot when he was in his 20s. Plot details are being a secret, but she promises that they'll be focusing on an important part of Han's life, so it's a story well worth telling.
