8 Major Theories For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3
3. Rocket's Origin Story Will Be Told
Every member of the Guardians is now a different person to when they were first introduced in the first movie. Peter Quill grew from a thief to a hero with a conscience, Gamora broke free from her tyrannical father, and Drax evolved from a humourless killing machine to one of the funniest characters in the entire franchise.
Rocket is no different. From a selfish schemer only worried about himself, it took until the end of Volume 2 to realise that those around him were his family, and the best thing that ever happened to him. Though he has already been through an immense transition, Rocket's story is far from complete.
In the brief time he was removed from the project, James Gunn revealed his biggest regret was not getting to finish Rocket's arc, so now that he's back, Groot's partner is all but guaranteed to play a major role in the movie.
While the ending of Rocket's story is still to be told, so is the beginning, as we know pretty much nothing about him from before he and Groot ran into Quill on Xandar. Rocket's story is nothing short of tragic, and Guardians Volume 3 may be the last opportunity to explore how he was torn apart and put back together again on Halfworld, and of course, how he met Groot.
