8 Marvel Villains Who Could Be More Popular Than Tom Hiddleston's Loki

1. Venom

Arguably, the biggest disappointment in comic book movie history (at least as far as villains are concerned) was the casting and subsequent portray by Topher Grace as Eddie Brock AKA Venom in Spider-Man 3. As the arch-nemesis of one of the most popular superheroes in comic book history, the fans expected better. The classic version of Brock is a muscular and intimidating man who, after finding himself hosting the parasitic symbiote from outer space, wields power very similar to that of Spider-Man but on an enhanced scale. What we actually got in the Sam Raimi movie was the more wimpy version that people more familiar with the Ultimate comics were used to seeing - and it just didn't work on screen. For such an iconic character - and the villain of such an iconic hero - to be depicted so poorly was a massive disappointment and it would be fantastic to finally get the version the fans deserve and the version the character deserves. One thing Spider-Man 3 got right, to an extent, was the character's appearance. He should perhaps have been more muscular, but there was enough there to show that Venom could potentially look amazing in live action using CGI (and that was seven years ago) and that's a good start. With the right character traits and personality, an amended version of Venom in the newer Amazing Spider-Man franchise could very easily become the most popular comic book movie villain of all time. No question. So there you have it - eight Marvel villains who could be more popular than Tom Hiddleston's Loki. Do you agree?
