8 MCU Movies You Can Totally Avoid Watching

5. Thor: The Dark World

The sequel to 2011's Thor often finds itself at the bottom of fans' ranking of the MCU films and, although that might seem harsh (given that it isn't a bad movie), it's easy to see why.

Though Thor: The Dark World does boast an interesting concept and features the returns of all the characters who made the first film the fun spectacle that it was, it just can't instil us with the same level of enjoyment that its predecessor did. While that could be down to the fact that it took its title far too literally and was, without a doubt, the MCU's most grim offering to date, it's also because the story just wasn't as engaging.

The best thing about this one was undoubtedly its use of Loki, who attempted to raise the tone as much as he could, but he just wasn't in it enough to successfully pull that off.

This felt more like the characters of Thor returned in a non-Thor film and, when all was said and done, this dark spectacle did very little to further any of their narratives. It does, however, introduce one element that goes onto play a part in Thanos' overall plan (the Aether), but since that is reintroduced down the line, you could easily give this one a miss.
