8 Modern Horrors Ruined By Their Monster Reveal
4. Don't Breathe
2016 horror Don't Breathe had a promising concept and became one of the most highly anticipated horrors of the year when the trailer first appeared. A group of burglars attempt to break in to a blind old man's house with a tip off that he holds value inside his building. Before long, they realise that the blind OAP is after them as a retired soldier who has spent his life setting up traps to protect himself from the exposure of his darkest secrets.
There are many tense moments within the film - the friends run across dark hallways and hide as the man uses only his great sense of hearing to find them. Audiences held their breath just like the title suggests to keep themselves from being detected.
But the ending let everyone down. Not a big a monster reveal as such, but the blind soldier is soon discovered to have a sinister past behind him, looking to impregnate female victims in his underground basement. One of the burglar group is strapped to a harness after releasing his last captured innocent where he aims to carry his legacy using his own refrigerated sperm.
Yes. It is as weird as it sounds. Maybe just stick with the trailer.
