8 MORE Deleted Scenes That Nearly Ruined Great Movies

5. Attempted Suicide - The Incredible Hulk

Considering that, at its core, The Incredible Hulk is about negative emotion, it’s no wonder that many consider it one of the darkest and most emotionally difficult movies in the MCU. But it's alternative ending makes it that much more harrowing.

Climbing a snowy mountain in the middle of nowhere, it becomes clear that Bruce Banner intends to put an end to the chaos of his life. Preparing a revolver, the scene takes a sudden shift when the Hulk takes control of his body. Furious at Banner’s intentions, the mountainside is ripped apart by the big guy’s power.

Whilst Banner references his attempted suicide in the Avengers, it’s a far cry from getting this close to seeing it play out. The Incredible Hulk may be a gloomy movie but comic book fans - both adults and children - didn’t pay the price of admission to see their hero contemplate suicide.

Whilst some fans believe this scene features director Louis Leterrier’s promised Captain America cameo in the form of a millisecond of a dark smudge on broken ice, it’s worth losing it in favour of what we got. The final ending that features Banner gaining some measure of control over his power, and being approached by Tony Stark, weave the film into the MCU tapestry so much better than the big, ominous question mark of this dark alternative.
