8 MORE Deleted Scenes That Nearly Ruined Great Movies

6. It Was All A Vision - Alpha Papa: Alan Partridge

More British than Sunday roast, Alan Partridge is the kind of comedic character that you’d assume doesn’t translate overseas all that well. Still, the bumbling unaware radio host got his chance to go global in his surprisingly successful 2013 full length picture.

Alpha Papa sees Alan fighting for his job and his life during a siege and hostage situation in the offices of North Norfolk Digital.

In a deleted scene that was meant to take place near the film’s close there’s the implication that the entire series of events is all just vision Alan has had. Whether this was genuinely considered as an alternative ending or just a cheap gag is unknown, but it seems suspicious that the trailer for the movie heavily featured Queen’s One Vision, perhaps as a cheeky clue.

No matter what the film is, a fake out “it was all a dream” ending is a sure fire way to piss off moviegoers. Even light-hearted comedies like Alpha Papa that don’t take themselves too seriously shouldn’t even consider it. Such kinds of anti-climax undermine everything you’ve just seen. What was the point if none of it actually happened?

Fans had waited through 10 years of rumours for their beloved Partridge to grace the big screen and if Alpha Papa ended this way it would’ve been a big disappointment.
