8 MORE Deleted Scenes That Nearly Ruined Great Movies
2. Obi-Wan And Anakin’s Secret Code - Revenge Of The Sith
Revenge of the Sith left about 40 minutes of content on the cutting room floor that perhaps would have improved the transformation of Anakin to Darth Vader as much of it includes a little more levity for the overtly-brooding character. But there’s one scene that takes that a little too far into the ridiculous.
Confronting General Grievous and surrounded by droids, Obi-Wan and Anakin begin an exchange underneath the Sith warlord’s monologue. Anakin rubs his chin, lips and nose and Obi-Wan rejects the ideas, signalling back in his own code of twirling his moustache which Anakin proceeds to disagree with. The two formulate a plan without speaking and instead by poking at their own faces until they agree that an eyebrow rub - which apparently means “slice up the floor below us and hope we land somewhere soft” - is the right course of action.
Jedi telepathy is a rare enough thing but even this aside you’d think two seasoned warriors who are used to fighting side-by-side would be able to formulate a plan of action without the need for secret signals that look like someone trying to call a baseball play.
Not to mention, General Kenobi’s moustache-related scheme is only something that he can recommend as Anakin doesn’t have the facial hair to do it! Clearly some truly devastating Jedi knowledge that Anakin wasn’t ready for, and neither were we.
