8 More Famous Actors Forced Into Roles They Never Wanted

4. Emily Blunt - Gulliver's Travels

20th Century Fox

As Jack Black's misguided remake of Gulliver's Travels - which includes such highlights as the titular character pissing out a building fire - was coming out, Emily Blunt actually said she was happy to make it. But the alleged reality of the situation - as posited by others familiar with the situation - is that she was actually fulfilling a multi-picture deal with 20th Century Fox that had carefully not specificed what she'd have to make.

In short, she'd basically been pressured into appearing in the awful "comedy."

Just think, if she hadn't been forced, she could have appeared in Iron Man 2 as Black Widow opposite Robert Downey Jr as she apparently wanted. She was offered the role but had to turn it down for Gulliver's Travels, which is about the worst reason for anything ever. Instead, Scarlett Johansson was cast and made lots and lots of money by appearing in a number of MCU movies.

Gulliver's Travels meanwhile, made just over $230m worldwide.
