8 More Recent Movies Most Obviously Ruined By Bad Editing
4. The Nun Makes Everything Feel Like A Dream
Though The Nun was marketed as being the darkest entry into the Conjuring franchise yet, it ended up being the worst movie the series has produced. That's quite the feat as well, considering this is the series that has more terrible spin-offs than good mainline entries at this point.
One of the biggest reasons for it being a total disaster is how poorly executed its scares were, sucking out all tension by putting the focus primarily on terrible exposition and cutting away every time something spooky threatened to happen. Likewise, the way the movie was pieced together made it difficult to follow what was really happening, and what was a dream or hallucination.
There's one extended sequence that follows a priest walking through a foggy graveyard at night which ends up with him being buried alive. That could be pretty effective on paper, but the way it's edited, with him falling into a freshly dug grave which has then seemingly been covered for years a single cut later, makes it pretty clear that this can't be happening in real life.
It turns out it is though, despite the editing disconnecting it from reality as much as possible.
