6. Who Is Lobot?

One of the great things about Star Wars is how much detail goes into seemingly-insignificant characters. The main films are teeming with interesting-looking characters in the background, which goes a long way towards making this universe feel authentic and lived-in.

But unfortunately, this means that we're often left annoyed at not knowing more about these eye-catching individuals.

One of the best examples of a fascinating background character is Lobot, who we meet in The Empire Strikes Back. He's seemingly Lando Calrissian's second-in-command, helping his boss with the day-to-day running of Cloud City.

You know - the guy with two CD players stuck to the sides of his head.

Despite cutting a striking silhouette, Lobot gets no character development in the movie, which likely left you wondering what the hell his deal is - but that's where the Expanded Universe comes in. Lobot is in a butt-ton of novels and comic-books, which add so much more context to his story.

A former Imperial engineer, Lobot eventually joined up with Lando and became a smuggler. He actually died during a job gone wrong, but the cybernetic implants on his head took over his body and have been running it ever since.

So, he's basically a walking USB drive.
