8 Most Cringeworthy Moments In 2015's Comic Book Movies

4. Doctor Doom Gets His Name - Fantastic Four

While watching Fantastic Four, it quickly becomes apparent that Doctor Doom is a character who underwent perhaps the most changes as a result of reshoots. The brooding gamer we meet when Franklin Storm tracks him down bears little resemblance to the guy who goes on a drunken field trip with Reed and later returns from the Negative Zone as an unhinged Dark Elf, but how he gets his name was probably always there. In what someone clearly thought was a clever moment, Sue at one point refers to Victor as "Doctor Doom", a tongue in cheek exchange which is forced, silly, and most definitely one of the most cringeworthy moments in the entire reboot. We've seen this in comic book movies before of course, and it's an annoying trope frequently used as a way of avoiding naming a superhero or villain (thank God for Cisco in The Flash). It's particularly annoying in Fantastic Four though because of the throwaway manner in which it's handled. Doctor Doom is one of the Marvel Universe's greatest villains, and as if it's not already bad enough that they failed to get him right again, this awkward way of name dropping Victor's comic book counterpart just makes things even worse. Just as bad was The Thing's token "It's Clobbering Time!" in the final battle...
