8 Most Ironic Scenes In MCU History
1. The Sacrifice Play
It took the Avengers a little time to gain any traction when Nick Fury first brought them together. None of them clashed quite like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers however, as both characters couldn’t have held beliefs and values much different to the other to begin with.
Tony wanted Steve to lighten up, and when challenged surmised that everything special about him came out of a bottle. Steve on the other hand thought of Tony as selfish, and not the kind of man who would make a sacrifice for anyone but himself. This was arguably true at the time, but a lot happened between that heated conversation on the Quinjet and the Battle of Earth against Thanos.
Tony had evolved, as did his relationship with Steve, for better and for worse, with Cap even describing Iron Man as Earth’s best defender. How ironic then, that the man who wouldn’t ever put anyone else ahead of his own self interests was the one who took his own life to protect the entire universe.
He gave up the life he found with Pepper and Morgan to rid the universe of Thanos, in a sacrifice play like no other in the franchise. Doubtless he would have told Cap ‘I told you so’ had he survived long enough afterwards.
