8 Movie Franchises That Have Gender Swapped

American Psycho 2 didn’t start life as a sequel. The original was acclaimed and did good business, but since the chances of getting Christian Bale back for a sequel were close to nil, the studio scrambled to make some kind of franchise out of it.

Since they were about to start filming a movie about a murderous college student, they just tweaked that script to make it a sequel. A flashback prologue was added featuring the new female lead watching Patrick Bateman (definitely not played by Bale) murdering her babysitter before she kills him.

What follows is an annoying, would be hip slasher that’s made tolerable thanks to the fact Mila Kunis is playing the lead. She does her best with the weak material, but her character is just no substitute for Bateman.

Kunis herself disowned it years later, and American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis wasn’t best pleased with the results either.
