8 Movie Sequels That Cost LESS Than The Original (But Were Better)

5. Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (2005)

There's no doubt that the Star Wars prequels have their issues. They're full of terrible dialogue, bad acting, bizarre ret-cons and painfully out of place characters, and the strongest element of the three films remains its final outing, Revenge of the Sith.

Both The Phantom Menace (1999) and Attack of the Clones (2002) cost 115 million dollars to make, and both were unreservedly slammed by critics and fans alike. Sure, they made a decent profit, but who cares when they received so much hate?

By the time Revenge came along in 2005, faith was mostly lost in the films. Despite Maul in The Phantom Menace and the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones, the trilogy seemed like a lost cause to many fans.

But Revenge was actually quite good. Yes, it had some issues - Anakin's descent to the Dark Side was a bit too sudden, and there's still some cheesy dialogue thrown in there for good measure, but all told it ended up a surprisingly affecting sci-fi flick.

With its epic fight scenes, a powerhouse performance from Ewan McGregor and a mostly satisfying tie-up of big loose ends, it was far better than the two films that came before it. And with a budget of 110 million, it was actually the cheapest in the entire trilogy.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
