8 Movie Trailer Scenes Removed For The Right Reasons

5. Nightcrawler Gets Brain Freeze (X-Men: Apocalypse)

Before X-Men: Apocalypse came out, we saw a lot of images from a scene set in a mall, with Cyclops, Jean Grey and a few others having a normal day in their young adult lives, away from the hustle and bustle of being a superhero.

But in the theatrically-released film, the majority of this mall sequence had been thrown away. Even one of the funniest bits from the trailers - a quick gag involving Nightcrawler freaking out over getting brain freeze - didn't make it. In a film that desperately needed more humour, this seemed like an odd omission. So what gives?

The film's director, Bryan Singer, told CinemaBlend that problems with the film's flow and pace forced him to axe most of the mall sequence, but believed that this decision benefited the film as a whole:

"And in the end, when you look at a film as a feature, it’s called ‘the collective experience.’ And you find certain things that you loved so much in individual scenes, they somehow disrupt the collective experience. And so that was one area where I made a drastic reduction – well, not that drastic a reduction. It’s like a minute or two, or less. But there are some fun beats!"

On the plus side, this entire sequence made its way online after the film released, existing as a standalone deleted scene.
