8 Movies That Everyone Turned Against On A Second Viewing

7. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

It's true: the initial reaction to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - like, the reaction of people coming out of the theatre just having seen it - was that it was a solid entry in the series, and not at all comparable to anything that George Lucas had done with the Star Wars saga. The reviews from critics were - mostly - positive, and fans seemed to be generally happy with the state of Indy's fourth outing... for a while. It wasn't until numerous discussions got going with regards to the questionable nature of the plot and some frankly bizarre elements that everyone sat down to watch this alien-based archaeology movie again and changed their minds. That's to say, it certainly seemed as though it took subsequent viewings for everyone who'd seen Indy 4 to realise that - although the movie had Harrison Ford and had been directed by Steven Spielberg - this wasn't really an Indiana Jones movie at all, and we'd all been lying to ourselves in order to prevent the pain of another Phantom Menance debacle. So all the four star reviews for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull seem a little out of place now - critics desperately trying to convince themselves that Steven Spielberg didn't make a bad Indy movie with nuked fridges and Shia LaBeouf and lame in-jokes and terrible CGI. But he did: We just needed two viewings to realise.
