8 Movies That Were Wiped Out Of Continuity By Their Sequels
5. Jaws: The Revenge Completely Ignores Jaws 3-D
Jaws 3-D was released in 1983, and was part of a short-lived fad where the third part of a series would be shot in 3-D to suck in audiences (see also: Friday The 13 Part III and Amityville 3-D). The movie has Dennis Quaid as Mike Brody, the son of Chief Brody from the first two movies. He works at SeaWorld in Florida, and has to deal with the appearance of a 35 foot Great White Shark that starts eating tourists. Its a very, very boring movie and wasnt much liked when it came out, so the producers decided to start again. Jaws: The Revenge came a few years later, and now the Brody family has to deal with a Great White Shark thats actively targeting them. Mike returns as a main character, but is played by a different actor. He also has a wife and small child, a different job and no mention is made of his fiancée from Jaws 3-D or fighting another shark in SeaWorld. Even the press release for The Revenge states the movie is the third instalment of the series. For all their effort to wipe Jaws 3-D out of existence they still made a movie thats arguably a lot worse, and one that killed the Jaws franchise stone dead.
