8 Movies That Were Wiped Out Of Continuity By Their Sequels
4. Halloween: H20 Completely Ignores Halloween IV, V and VI
The original Halloween made Jamie Lee Curtis a star as Laurie Strode, the sister and target of serial killer Michael Myers. Halloween III later attempted to rebrand the series as a horror anthology based around the holiday of Halloween, abandoning the Michael plotline. This wasnt a popular move, so Michael was brought back for Part IV. Here hes chasing his young niece, as Jamie Lee had no interest in returning and had hr character died off-screen in a car crash. But when Halloween was about to celebrate its twentieth anniversary Curtis was tempted back. By this stage the series plotline had gotten hopelessly messy, with sinister cults and other nonsense throw in. For H20 it was decided to ignore everything but the first two movies, and it finds Laurie living under a new identity with her 17-year-old son. Michael soon returns to make their lives hell. In H20 Michael is said to have disappeared after his original rampage, and the story makes no mention of Laurie having had a daughter. This is understandable, as the only explanation would be that Laurie faked her death, ran away with her son and left her poor daughter behind. Which wont make her very sympathetic. The original script attempted to tie parts IV to VI into the new storyline, with Laurie getting sick upon hearing about her daughters death years before, but the idea was quickly abandoned.
