8 Movies That Weren't As Good As Their Soundtracks

7. Twin Peak: Fire Walk With Me - Composer: Angelo Badalamenti / Artist: Julee Cruise

Twin Peaks Walk With Me Odd. That's one way to describe the decisions made when taking the Twin Peaks story line from TV to film. But then its David Lynch, so odd is his middle name. Disappointing would be another. After that awesome cliff-hanger, and series cancellation, fans were hoping to see so much more. Making it a prequel quashed that, though apparently there were plans for three Twin Peaks films, so perhaps if this had been better we might have got that conclusion after all. As it stands, its a tragic tale of Laura Palmer's last days and is still worth a watch, even if it doesn't give the audience the answers they were looking for. For starters... 1) It gives us more Agent Dale Cooper. More Leyland Palmer. More Laura. Audrey sadly is AWOL and Donna was recast but it's a chance to revisit these characters at any earlier point in their lives when the threat of Bob is only just emerging. 2) It gives us a chance to hear Angelo Badalamenti's magnificent score one more time. It was as much a part of the show as the characters themselves, and hearing that iconic theme play out as the film takes us from the investigation into Teresa Banks' murder to the town one year later, it takes you back to what made the show so great, if you get the answers you want or not. Again, there are some beautiful and haunting motifs throughout the film, the best being 'Questions in a world of blue' sung so beautifully by Julee Cruise. Seeing Laura Palmer's nightmare unfold and the desperation and sadness on her face as she sits alone in the Roadhouse, while Cruise sings her ballad...it lifts the scene tenfold, making you feel every moment of anguish and despair and she heads towards her fate. A stunning, powerful score overall to a not so stunning, but still powerful film... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCV_kTjuguQ
