8 Movies The Simpsons (Probably) Spoiled For You
5. Rear Window
There's some debate to be had about how much Rear Window is actually spoiled by The Simpsons. In Bart Of Darkness, after some pool-based frivolities (gotta love the Pool Mobile) the episode steers into a pretty direct parody, with a wheelchair-bound Bart using his telescope to spy on the neighbours and becoming obsessed that Flanders has killed his wife, even getting Lisa in to investigate.
So far, so Hitchcock, but as the episode draws to close it veers off into its own thing, and may seem to keep Rear Window's central mystery, and indeed the overtness of the parallel, in tact.
But when you couple all that with the vignette of The Simpsons' Jimmy Stewart parody commenting on Bart coming to get him and it steps into full-on spoiler. Good thing the movie's more about atmospheric tension building than plot.
