Matt Damon was nominated for this year's best comedy (if you listen to HFPA), The Martian. He plays a botanist who finds himself stuck on Mars, and faces the epic struggle to survive long enough for his team to get him home. Hilarious stuff, you can imagine. But while he's not growing plants on Mars and trashing disco music, he's apparently working on his singing. Unfortunately for the world, his brief but memorable cameo in Eurotrip where he performs the punk rock song "Scotty Doesn't Know" is just a lip synch. But if you go back a few years earlier, you'll find him stretching his jazz skills in The Talented Mr Ripley, where he sings a vulnerable rendition of My Funny Valentine. This is, of course, to say nothing of his role on Will and Grace, where he played the straight-pretending-to-be-gay vocalist that Jack competes against in the gay choir, because they just don't have any good choirs for straight men. Both are awesome in different ways, but the takeaway from all of this is that if Matt Damon were to start singing in more of his movies, that wouldn't be, like, a problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_A9xX_CVFA
