8 People Who Must Be Fired From The Marvel Cinematic Universe
4. Natalie Portman
For her own good, at least. Natalie Portman - an actress capable of far more than "arbitrary love interest in comic book movies" - has found herself obliged to two Thor movies so far, and you have to wonder why she ever bothered to begin with. Is there a more awkwardly terrible role in the MCU that than of Jane Foster? One could certainly argue that there is not. Was Portman's agreeing to play Foster an an ill-judged attempt to appear contemporary? To secure a role that guaranteed she'd have work for a number of years, in a series that would remain relevant? Did she just want any easy role? Whatever the reason, Portman has emerged as a kind of elephant in the room; she feels entirely out of place, and the MCU itself doesn't seem to know how to handle her. It's time she was shown the door, just in time for Thor 3. For everybody's sake.
