8 Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Actually Led To Something Awesome

1. The Avengers Initiative (Iron Man)

A somewhat inevitable number one entry, this tag is not only responsible for the post-credits-scene craze we see in most blockbuster movies these days, but it marked the first time we heard Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury mention the Avengers Initiative, so in a way, this short moment acts as a foundation for the entirety of the MCU, and without it, the franchise might not be the enormous success it is today.

It's nothing fancy, extravagant, or showy - it's just a quick exchange between Fury and Tony Stark, with the former telling the latter he’s here to discuss a potential superhero team-up. From here, we saw a Thor movie, a Hulk movie, a Captain America movie, and a second Iron Man movie, before the original six Avengers assembled in 2012, to a phenomenally positive reception and unprecedented box-office grosses.

The MCU turns 11 years old with Avengers: Endgame in just a few weeks, and even over a decade into its run, the franchise is in better shape than it’s ever been. As well as being a testament to the quality of the movies, that success makes this post-credits scene the most important in movie history.

When the MCU turns 20, 30, even 40, it can all be traced back to this moment.

He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
