8 Promising Things Ben Affleck Will Bring To A Batman Film
6. He's Not Zack Snyder
Zack Snyder is not an outright terrible director. His sense of action is incredible as is his handling of visual effects. That said, as a creative type spearheading a character-driven story, he definitely has his faults. These were especially evident in Batman V Superman and it’s clear that if a Batman film is to succeed, it’s going to need to distance itself from Snyder’s brand of direction.
By simply not being Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck will provide Batman with the breath of fresh air that the character needs. His directing sensibilities are vastly different and are rooted in performance and character as opposed to spectacle.
All three of Affleck’s directorial efforts have been universally acclaimed, with Argo even winning Best Picture, whereas Snyder’s best work is a toss-up between Dawn Of The Dead and 300.
Batman and the DCEU as a whole clearly need something new, because what they have is evidently not working. Whether Affleck is the perfect director for the job remains to be seen but there’s no denying that he will be a far cry from Zack Snyder, and that is a good thing.
