8 R-Rated Comic Book Movies That Definitely Shouldn't Follow Deadpool
8. Kick-Ass 3/Hit-Girl
While Kick-Ass wasn't hailed as the game changer Deadpool has been, there's no denying that the Matthew Vaughn helmed release showed that comic book movies have the potential to do some very new and interesting things with that R-Rating. Sadly, Jeff Wadlow's sequel ended up doing everything they shouldn't as it went all out with blood and guts and even threw in some vomit and diarrhoea for good measure. The fact that Kick-Ass 2 was a box office flop means that a third instalment is now highly unlikely, but both Vaughn and comic book writer Mark Millar have indicated that there are plans for some sort of follow-up, possibly putting the focus solely on Hit-Girl. Honestly though, it would be better to let this franchise die, especially as Vaughn being involved as anything more than just a producer seems highly unlikely at this stage. With an unwillingness to go as far as Millar and John Romita Jr. did in the Kick-Ass comics and the shock factor of seeing a little girl killing and swearing has no longer a factor now that Chloe Grace Moretz is an adult, there's nothing new for this franchise to bring to the table. Kick-Ass 2 proved that, and so another R-Rated visit to this world runs the risk of putting moviegoers off this side of the genre rather than enhancing it.
