For a while, I honestly thought that an R-Rated X-Force movie was the best possible way of handling that franchise, but it really isn't. The team may handle the jobs too dirty for the X-Men, but we're still talking about a movie which could be the start of a very big and profitable new series for Fox. Putting them into a gritty and low budget world may mean more sex, violence, and swearing, but it wouldn't do them any justice. The X-Force have travelled throughout time and taken on everyone from Mr. Sinister to Stryfe, and those sorts of epic battles require a big budget which an R-Rating wouldn't allow. The writers of Deadpool have made some very interesting comments recently about how much it would be for a fourth wall breaking Wade Wilson to be part of a PG-13 X-Force movie, and that's another valid reason for hoping Fox don't go with an R. Unfortunately, both Ryan Reynolds and Simon Kinberg have indicated that the studio is now open to the idea, so there's a very good chance that this is the direction they'll end up going in. As a result, it's likely we'll get the old school Cable led X-Force from the 90s, a mercenary team who pale in comparison to recent iterations such as the one from Rick Remender's superb run. With an R, X-Force will almost certainly disappoint. Which other R Rated movies do you hope Hollywood avoids? Share your assessments below in the comments thread.
