8 Reasons Ben Affleck Should Retire From Batman

6. No Hard Feelings

Ben Affleck The Batman
DC Comics

For a long time, Affleck was about as committed to Batman as one could possibly be. He was signed on to not only portray the character in multiple appearances but also to write and direct his own standalone Batman film. For months after the release of BvS, it seemed that all any interviewer wanted to ask Affleck about was the status of his script and when the film would be going into production.

Thanks to this, we got a whole lot of footage of Affleck talking about either how excited he was about his script or downplaying the certainty of said film in the first place. After months of back-and-forth, the news was officially broken that Affleck would not be helming or writing the Batman solo film. Instead, acclaimed Apes director, Matt Reeves, would be stepping in to direct and write his own script for the film.

Since then, Affleck has put on a good face for the crowds and spoken here and there about how excited he is to work with Reeves but he's also mentioned how much he regrets not being able to deliver his version of the script. Having Affleck and Reeves both on the set of that film sounds like a tension-filled nightmare just waiting to happen.

If Affleck leaves the role now, it will surely be better for both Reeves and himself in the long-run. At the very least, they won't kill each other on-set.
