4. The Romance Is Surprisingly Boring
If you hoped that Deadpool might serve as a refreshing rebuke to the rather perfunctory, even insulting forced romances in the MCU, think again. Though it's cruder and funnier than the love stories from Marvel Studios, it's still a fairly down-the-line romance that begins promisingly enough but soon enough gives way to the same trite sentimentality and aforementioned damsel in distress scenario. Morena Baccarin isn't given a whole lot to work with (both in terms of dialogue and her skimpy outfits), but she tries her best. Sadly she's all eye candy and rather lacking in character, which is extra disappointing considering an early joke about Wade wanting a love interest who is more than just two-dimensional sex appeal.
