8 Reasons Dr. Strange Is The Most Revolutionary Marvel Movie Ever

3. Doctor Strange Proved Superhero Climaxes Can Be Smart

The subversive elements of Doctor Strange could have a lasting impact on the way superhero blockbuster finales are structured from here on out. One longstanding criticism people suffering from superhero fatigue have lobbed at Marvel is that all its movies end in massive city-destroying battles with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.

While comic book's raison d'etre is super-powered beings throwing down, it seemed like Marvel had given us all the variations on this scenario it could have. There are only so many times audiences will pay to watch the same scenes repackaged over and over again and Marvel was in danger of growing stale. Thankfully, Doctor Strange proved that Marvel could deliver a finale that was fresh and, most importantly, smart.

Strange eschewed the obligatory rock 'em sock 'em climax in favor of having Strange use his wits and knowledge to strike a deal with the evil Dormammu and save the world. He managed to defeat his nemesis without throwing a single punch, which is something few blockbusters, let alone superhero movies, have the audacity to do.

Hopefully, this will inspire other comic book filmmakers to put some more thought into the endings of their movies.
