Warner Bros. hired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller back in 2010 to write and direct the movie - based on their previous experience, they might just be the perfect choices. They are renowned as two of the youngest show runners in the business, and they've already claimed their worth with the much-loved animated feature Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, an adaptation that received positive reviews and a respectable box-office taking of £243 million worldwide. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs demonstrated that Lord and Miller had the talent to produce a genuinely fun family movie. It didn't necessarily have the artistry of Pixar's Up - which was released in the same year but it was an entertaining movie in its own right. Three years later, the duo released their first live action comedy: 21 Jump Street. With an impressive opening weekend and a worldwide taking of $201 million, it turned out to be a smash hit. The film starred Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, and emerged as one of the funniest films of 2012. Lord and Miller are also joined by animating wizard Chris McKay, who is the talent behind Adult Swim's Robot Chicken series. A show which has produced various seasons and many specials, Robot Chicken features some skilful animating throughout. So, of course, it makes a whole lot of sense to add McKay into mix. With these three directors collaborating on the same project, The Lego Movie has a good chance of ending up a very successful and legitimately funny movie.
