8 Reasons Marvel's Spider-Man Might Be A Total Let Down

7. The Costume

The costume used in The Amazing Spider-Man quite frankly sucked. While it was easy to see what they were going for, it was an ugly design which was clearly created only to be different to the perfect suit Sam Raimi gave us in his Spider-Man trilogy. Following the negative response to the redesign, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 did a complete one-eighty by using a costume which looked like it had been torn straight from the pages of the comic books, and you have to believe that Marvel Studios is now going to come up with something radically different for their version. After all, putting Peter Parker in another comic accurate costume is likely to confuse moviegoers who think this Spider-Man is the same as the one played by Andrew Garfield, hence why Kevin Feige has promised that the character will be sporting a "homemade" suit in Captain America: Civil War (as mentioned, rumours meanwhile point to Peter later getting a non-Iron Spider outfit gifted to him by Tony Stark). There have been some very troubling rumblings about what that homemade outfit is going to look like, and while it's hard not to trust Marvel Studios at this point, it's easy to imagine it being radically different enough to upset many fans. It will of course be interesting to see Peter in a costume which a 15 year old would believably make, but not if what makes Spider-Man Spider-Man is lost somewhere along the line. Seeing this character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a dream come true, but only if that involves seeing the iconic hero standing alongside The Avengers, not a kid who looks like a cosplayer. Until some official images of the suit are released, what Kevin Feige and company has planned is definitely cause for concern.
