8 Reasons Why Christian Bale's Batman Is Better Than Ben Affleck's

7. A Batman That Fits The World

A lot of fan chatter pre-release claimed Affleck was shaping up to be the definitive screen version of Batman. Some even claimed this after seeing the film, but through all the praise I just don't get it; while there's certainly elements of the character that are pure adaptation of the comics, it's nullified because this Batman doesn't fit into the world presented.

This is important, because while this article is very much against Affleck, I want to make clear I don't think he's out-and-out bad. It's just that he's in a weak film in which he doesn't belong.

Nolan's Gotham was built around the notion of a stripped back take on the Dark Knight. The realistic city reflected the mostly grounded version of the hero. In contract, Snyder's city was just a dilapidated sister to Metropolis while his Batman was killer taking on a God. This stylistic clash could have been an interesting thing to explore (y'know, a new take), but instead it just meant that Batman felt out of place.

Hardly surprising given that this "definitive" version was cribbing from so many sources that don't quite lend themselves to each other in the first place.
